J & J Aircraft Services is an EASA Part M subparts G & F and M3 approved maintenance organisation servicing and maintaining both Annex I and Annex II light aircraft. We can undertake a complete restoration of your aircraft, if required. In the past we have restored a number of aircraft for both customers and our past fleet of training machines. As an example, in the case of a wood and fabric aircraft, dependant upon its state at the outset, it is completely stripped to the bare airframe, which then undergoes any repairs as necessary before recovering commences.
Recovering can be done in any material specified from modern fabrics to original linen as required, which is glued and stitched to the airframe. Depending on the fabric type, it is then ironed or doped to the correct tension or tautness. Various types and amounts of dope are then applied, again dependant upon the type of fabric, in accordance with the aircraft manufacturer’s instructions, leaving the fabric fully protected against ultra violet rays from the sun.
It is then painted in the colour scheme specified by the customer. In our Gallery, you can see photographs of restoriation work being carried out on a Pitts Special and a Tiger Moth, which were both restored when we were based at Sywell. Interiors can also be refurbished in a variety of materials and colour choices. In addition, any major overhauls, i.e. engine, propeller, avionics, required can then be carried out by subcontracting to those specialist companies listed in our Part M approval before being refitted in house by our experienced technical staff.
Our combined experience in all aspects of engineering, aircraft sales and customer care ensures that we are able to offer you a first class service. All key members of staff are experienced pilots in their own right.
